In many cases a production rate of 180 per hour is too slow to justify robotic palletising. Not anymore. ADM has developed PAK-IT, a flexible cell that carries out the complete packaging operation using a single ABB Robot.

The cell erects the carton automatically from a stack and transfers it to the product load point. It then automatically tapes the box closed, applies a label and then stacks the finished product on a standard Euro Pallet. Around 10 different box sizes and various stack patterns are handled within a 5 minute changeover time.

The cell is fully guarded and includes auto-feeding of empty and full pallets.
